Meet in front of Burton Joyce Post Box
NEXT WALK DATE - Thursday, 21st June 2018
On a lovely sunny day on 21st June we drove to Papplewick and then walked over to Newstead Abbey. At Newstead we had a coffee break and then went for a look around the Japanese and Rock Gardens. More pictures in Gallery Photos 2018
We were a bit late this year on 17th May, to go looking for bluebells at Ploughman's Wood, very few still flowering. We did however see quite a lot of wild garlic and another flower we could not name. Another enjoyable walk on a lovely day though.
On 19th April, one of the first hot days of 2018 we had a walk in Burton Joyce - up Willow Wong, along Lambley Bridle Road and then down Burton Joyce Bridle Road. We finished the walk with a welcome drink at the Blue Bird Cafe.
On 18th January we had a short, slightly muddy, but very pleasant walk at Lowdham, and found some of the first snowdrops of the year.
On Thursday, 21st September, Marlene's Group went around Colwick Park, as it was rather wet for field paths, then went to Toby's for coffee.
Unfortunately our walk on Thursday, 17th August had to be cancelled because of heavy rain, typical as the rest of the week was lovely sunshine!
On 27th July, we drove to Hoveringham then walked along the river towards Bleasby via Gibsmere. It was a blustery day but we managed to finish our walk and get home before the torrential rain started around 12.30 pm
On 20th April we walked from Lowdham to Ploughman's Wood to see this year's bluebells. The day had started with rain
but by the time we reached the wood we
had a beautiful blue sky. More photos in Gallery 2017.
On Thursday, 25th August Marlene and 2 other took the bus along to Lowdham and walked half way through the village before turning up the side of the Indian restaurant and heading over the hill to Gonalston. From there we walked through Gonalston and did a circuit back round to Lowdham via Lowdham Mill, finishing with a welcome drink at Miss Molly's before the bus back to Burton Joyce.
Our walk on the 17th March remained in Burton Joyce. We walked up to the ridge at the back of the village for magnificent, if slightly misty, views over the village and river.
